OUR WORKSHOPS

Our two day kids art class, Mistake Maker Camp workshop is our signature school holiday programs. In our school holiday workshop explore mistake making. They will learn how to deal with mistakes and face worries with confidence and a growth mindset. In our Mistake Maker camp kids will explore the art of being and thinking like a Mistake Maker through:

• creating three “make-something-great-from-a-mistake” art projects;
• learning strategies to think with a growth mindset and react with confidence and resilience when mistakes happen;
• learning about famous Mistake Makers in history; and

They will let their creativity flow as they complete artsy activities of Zen tangling, painting, drawing to scale, calming colouring in, weaving and clay sculpting. Your child will be surprised by how much they can achieve through thinking and behaving with a growth mindset. Not only will your child learn some new art skills, they will also learn resilience and mindfulness techniques and receive our BAT and Wizzy Dizzy to help manage their emotions when BIG emotions strike. Please note, this is not an overnight camp. Children come for each day between 9-3.30pm. You can also purchase our NEW Calm Corner Kit with your ticket and we will have it ready for you to pick up free at the workshop.

Does your child love to make their own gifts? Then this Christmas present making workshops with Strength Heroes is not to be missed. At this workshop, kids will get arty and have fun making contemporary presents that their family and friends will treasure. Kids will make four 4 very arty gifts for Mum, Dad, sisters and brothers and Christmas decorations. We can’t tell you what they will make cause then it won’t be a surprise! Kids will leave with wrapped presents ready to put under the Christmas tree. But be warned, they may be so impressed they will gift them to themselves. Best of all, we will keep them entertained while you take the opportunity to finish your Christmas preparations. Not only will your child learn some new art skills, they will also explore and celebrate what they are grateful for and how to practice gratitude all the time and not just at Christmas. Each child will receive a Gratitude Game which is an easy way for the whole family to develop the art of gratitude.

"Ready Set School," is designed to help children understand their feelings and emotions. We'll provide practical strategies to manage and embrace these emotions, teaching them the importance of self-awareness. Building Confidence: We'll empower kids by helping them identify their strengths and fostering positive self-talk, building a strong sense of self-worth. What Can I Do When...: With real-life scenarios, children will develop problem-solving skills to tackle challenges head-on. Setting School-Ready Goals: Each child will set a personal school-ready goal. Art and Play Activities: No dull lectures! Instead, your child will dive into our engaging and interactive approach, where they'll explore through fun activities like clay sculpting and journal creation. These activities not only allow children to express their emotions but also enable them to put the strategies they learn into action. Plus, the creations they make will serve as lasting reminders of the valuable messages they take away from the workshop, even after the clay has dried. Join us for a school holiday workshop full of arty adventures designed to delight. Children will play with clay, paint and printmaking to explore and get creative and complete at least three projects. This will be a fun, creative day that will keep your kids engaged for the whole day.  While they are developing their fine motor skills, they will discover that working with natural materials requires patience and persistence.  We will explore the different emotions that come with learning. This workshop will develop your children’s creativity and perseverance skills that will support learning in other parts of their life.  Each child will bring home a worksheet that will give you strategies to help support their emotions so that you have a guide for how to help your child without taking over. Important note about NEW Floreat Forum Shopping Centre venue:  Please note, this is not in an open area of the shopping centre but a secure pop up shop in Floreat Forum. Children will be supervised at all times. 

Is your child a hands-on learner who likes to create things from scratch? This Architect for a Day workshop with Strength Heroes is a fantastic way to get your child into a creative environment that will help them thrive. Forget toys and Lego, this is the real deal! Get your kids involved with this class so they can let their creativity run free in this STEAM workshop with a difference. Throughout this Architect for a Day class, the kids will be guided by Strength Heroes’ architect and model maker. They will learn special tips and tricks for designing and building their own structure from scratch – either real or imagined. Kids will be encouraged to develop their ideas, and to create a structure they wouldn’t have thought was possible! There is no workshop like this in Perth!  We keep this workshop small to ensure we maximise each child's experience. Only six places available. Kids are welcome to bring their own ideas on what type of building they would like to make.

Is your child a hands-on learner and budding scientist and loves to make models?  Join us for a day of science and model making. This class is an opportunity for hands on exciting science experiments, magical world of maths by learning basic card tricks that they can wow their family and friends.  Brand new projects so if your child has been before, it will be completely different. In the afternoon, children will become a Small World Maker. Each child will receive a Strength Heroes Architect Kit with a set number of 3D objects and shapes to make a real or imagined building sculpture or scene. It is amazing what kids come up with.  We have had footy ovals, playgrounds and even a cat only beach. This class also includes a dose of resilience as we will explore how practice and perseverance is required to master new skills.  Each child gets to take home their science creations and Architectural models.

Calling all young adventurers and problem-solving enthusiasts! Get ready to unleash your child's brilliance and creativity in an action-packed challenge fun day like no other. This workshop is the ultimate boredom busting holiday activity. Work in groups to solve riddles, find hidden objects, identify your favourite song bite or sound effects (maybe even a funny fart!) and then we head outside for some crazy walk contests,, whacky relays and tennis ball contests all in a fun environment with the emphasis on competing not winning. These activities will leave the kids feeling accomplished and ready to take on any challenge life throws their way. The team activities are specially designed to cultivate essential social skills, helping your child blossom into a well-rounded individual. The challenges are designed for all talents, it is not about the most academic children winning but for everyone’s strengths to shine through. The last session we ran was a total blast….don’t miss out.

In this workshop, kids will be guided to identify what is amazing about themselves. A key success factor for confident kids. They will be guided to create a painting of themselves as a Strength Hero and make a trusty side kick out of clay. In this kids art class will

• Imagine and create their superhero character
• identify their strengths that make them special and unique,
• explore their super mind powers.

 

Does your child need extra tools to deal with worries, disappointments and making mistakes?  In this very special kids art workshop, children will explore how to catch, challenge and change worries to be a Worry Chaser.  Perfect to set kids up for dealing with worries.  They will explore and learn tips and tricks to help them think with a growth mindset and put worries into perspective.  Our art and play activities will include painting and sculpture.  Kids will make a dream catcher and special calm down tools to remember how to tame their worries long after the workshop. At the end of this school holiday workshop, kids will be left feeling creatively fulfilled, and armed with new skills to deal with worries. Your child will also get to take their home their final pieces so that you can hang it in their special place.

Kids will explore the art of recycling in this sustainable art class. They will use found and recycled objects to create a 3D sculpture and painting.​

Children love clay and we have discovered over the years that they want more. This school holiday your children can join us in a messy exploration of different types of clay including air dry, natural “clay” and a special kitchen ingredient clay they will get to help make and colour (no, it’s not playdough).  In this kids art class, they will explore the unpredictable nature of clay and the many opportunities for beautiful oops and happy accidents. Children will learn new clay techniques such as mark making, coiling and a mosaic picture. They will take home at least three clay projects. This workshop will develop their fine motor, creativity and perseverance skills as they let their imagination go wild. This workshop is proving one of our most popular holiday workshops. Each child will release their inner messy monster and we will clean it all up so you don’t have to.  

This kids art class is for small world makers. Each child will receive a Strength Heroes Architect Kit with a set number of 3D objects and shapes to make a real or imagined building sculpture or scene. It is amazing what kids come up with.  We have had footy ovals, playgrounds and even a cat only beach. They will be encouraged to plan and create it anyway they want. Our Master Designer will provide guidance, ideas, operate the hot glue gun and help the children think through how they make their ideas a reality. We will also have recycled bits and pieces that can be crafted into furniture, play equipment, even pets! It's time to DREAM BIG and create. This school holiday workshop also includes a dose of resilience as we will explore how everyone sees things differently. Even though everyone will start with the same kit EVERYONE will create their house differently.

Is your child a keen creative? In this all day kids art class, they will be guided through the arts and crafts experience by one of Strength Heroes’ talented artists. They will learn new skills and let their creativity flow as they complete artsy activities of drawing, acrylic painting, and clay. They will identify their strengths and hidden talents and how to use these to tackle mistakes and challenges. Not only will your child learn some new art skills, they will also be provided with tips and tricks to build their resilience and unleash their strengths to tackle worries and obstacles to help them try. Strategies that will help them learn, long after the paint dries.

In this workshop, kids will draw, sculpt and paint in a series of mindful art activities using the calming power of nature. Kids will create a nature scene painting that will become a place they can focus on to help them self-regulate and calm down when they face challenges. They will spend the morning doing drawing, watercolour and creative clay activities to practice mindfulness. This will develop their ability to focus and concentrate. In the afternoon they will plan and create their nature scene, their painted representation of a place to focus to calm down. This may be a real or imaginary place and can be hung in their special space to remind them of the mindfulness techniques long after the paint dries. Kids will learn several mindful techniques and you will receive a worksheet and access to online video so that you can support your child ability to self-regulate their emotions.

Conquer Worries with the Power of Growth Mindset! Is your child grappling with worries that seem as big as monsters?  Our workshop, "Worry Monsters and Growth Mindset," is here to equip young hearts and minds with the tools they need to tame those worries and embrace a growth mindset.  Creativity takes center stage as your child crafts their very own Worry Monster! This friendly companion will become a tangible symbol of empowerment, gobbling up worries and fears when fed with the power of growth mindset. Children will explore and learn tips and tricks to help them think with a growth mindset and put worries into perspective with our powerful questions.

In this all-day class printmaking workshop kids will be amazed by the “cause and effect” nature of printing and it's also a great way to develop their perseverance and the ability to deal with uncertainty. Their designs and ideas will be transferred onto surfaces such as foam and cardboard for drypoint prints.

Kids love weaving. We think its the magic of a single thread becoming a piece of material. We love the pride that comes from the kids as they master a new skill. Most of all we love how weaving is such a peaceful activity. In this mindful workshop we explore how our brain learns and responds when we make a mistake or challenge. However, kids won't know they are learning skills for life because we use the weaving as a teacher of these important lessons. Kids will weave using on a wooden loom to make a hanging weaving and they may even have time to make a simple basket.
